Simple April Landscaping To-Do List

Spring is in the air! Time to prep your yard for those summer months to ensure happy lawns and beautiful flower beds. Between spring cleanups and applying that first step of fertilizer, there's plenty of landscaping to do in April. Please feel free to use our to-do list to check off all of your landscaping needs.

The first step of fertilizer should be applied by the end of the month. This is a pre-emergent herbicide that will prevent that dreaded crab grass from growing in you lawn.

Have any bare spots in your lawn? Now is a great time to top dress those areas and spread some seed to make sure it starts growing by the summer.

Soil Test:

April is a great time to test your soil pH. This will let you know what your acidity levels are and if you should apply lime to lower the pH. If the soil is too acidic it will prevent your lawn from growing beautiful green grass.

While your trees and shrubs are still dormant you should prune them back. Cut out any broken branches and remove dead leaves.

Plant & Transplant:

This is a great time to plant trees and shrubs that are container grown. You should also fertilize your shrubs/trees if needed to keep them healthy year-round.

Spring cleanups are officially underway! Time to clear out all those leaves and sticks to prep your yard for summer.
